Job for someone newly graduated with BSME degree?

Does anyone know of any excellent places for mechanical engineers to find an access-level job? Lives in Ohio, and would prefer somewhere in the Eastern US, but willing to relocate. Any thoughts??Note: It is not for me. I am helping a friend get thoughts for where to apply.

General Motors. This company seems to be in all sorts of distress, primarily due to their inability to design a excellent product. They should be hiring engineers.

I work in mechanical commerce in Ohio and I know how hard it is to get a start in it, especially in the automotive sector. In the automotive field, companies most often look for practical experience or they hire through word of mouth (talk to other engineers and hire there friends or past coworkers). Dana’s technical center (in Maumee, Ohio) or Honda (in marysville, Ohio) are the two major automotive companies in Ohio and they tend to hire this way (Dana is hiring now!). Further north from me is Detroit, Mi. A lot of our buisness come from the detroit area and this area is the automotive hub of the U.S. There are a TON of automotive jobs here. I would suggest searching monster.com in this area.

Another sector to look into is possibly civil commerce jobs. I used to work for a civil commerce company were I worked as a surveyor (I was the guy standing in the center of an intersection staring through a tri-pod) and this company took advantage of peoples mechanical knowedge. I reckon this is pretty common.

Where I work (www.appliedinc.com) we often hire people with education and no experience because there are no experienced automotive engineers (..and everyone has to start somewhere) here in Toledo, Ohio. Unfortunately, we are not hiring at the moment (possibly in a couple of months), otherwise I would tell you to forward a resume.

Try monster.com ….excellent luck

Try Nook or Joyce Dayton. Both are located in Ohio and design and manufacture linear motion components such as screw jacks.

There are a ton of ME jobs in the Northeast (including access level engineers). If your friend is REALLY interested, check out the Boston section of the Society of Women Engineers. They hold hundreds of joblists for ME recent grads – the jobs vary from contruction commerce firm to nanomanufacturing. Networking facility better than a flashy resume, so start your research and try to contact a few people.

Check out any of the United Technologies companies–Hamilton Sundstrand, Pratt and Whitney, Sikorsky, Otis, Carrier, Chubb, Kidde–they all hire mechanical engineers and have locations all over the United States. You can find links to all their websites and career information at http://www.unitedtechnologiescorporation.com.
