Engineers in general make a better starting salary than others original out of college with Bachelor’s Degrees.

you can check out:

salary.com
salarywizard.com

or my personal favorite:

http://www.bls.gov/oco/

That is the official Occupational Outlook Handbook. It basically gives every job and position known to man and gives the salary ranges, job outlook and opportunity, training and education, etc. It is a very excellent source.

Compared to other engineers, chemical engineers find it simple to find job in chemical, pharmaceutical, petrochemical and refinery industries. They can also work in R&D, commerce design or scheme management.

For excellent salary, it is preferred to have MS/PhD and PE (Professional Engineer) License.

A typical graduate in USA gets about $50-55k/year salary.

I am a working chemical engineer in USA.

chemical commerce is one of the simplest
jobs to get the ancient heave-ho, because
you’re overqualified.
But they’re generally the highest or
following in the access level salaries.
Which the last I tartan was around
$50k/year. But that changes so much
with specialties and inflation, it’s
hard to say if you have a better
chance for employment with a C.E. degree
or a mircobiology degree.
